Honoring films released in the USA in 2010.
Carlos, Olivier Assayas’ magnificent chronicle of the life and times of international terrorist Carlos the Jackal, leads this year’s ICS nominations with 9 nods, including Picture, Director, Actor (Édgar Ramírez) and Screenplay. Fast-talking its way right behind is David Fincher’s The Social Network with 7 nods, followed by cinematic jailhouse poem A Prophet and twisted ballet thriller Black Swan with 6 apiece. Banksy’s subversive debut film on hypocrisy and street art, Exit Through the Gift Shop, is the only documentary ever to grace our Best Picture list, which also boasts four foreign-language films for the first time. It’s been an innovative year at the movies!
Winners of the 8th ICS Awards will be announced on February 18, 2011.

Honorable Mentions: In a great year for foreign-language films, four made our Best Picture list (a record), and the competition for slots on the foreign-language list was truly fierce. This year it took almost twice as many votes to make it as in prior years. So we include here five honorable mentions: outstanding films that just missed, yet were passionately loved by a minority and certainly deserved this accolade.
